Where did the summer go? It’s now into September and the cold temps have already visited us here in Iowa. I was able to attend the Iowa State Fair this year. I always enjoy looking at the tractor restorations done by the various FFA chapters. The grand champion this year is Nathan Casady’s restoration of a 1969 Ford 8000 as pictured below. These tractors are pretty rare, especially with the ROPS and canopy.
August also gave everyone a chance to attend the Farm Progress show and look at the new equipment from all the manufacturers. John Deere announced that they will be celebrating 100 years of tractor production at their Waterloo facility for 2018. Expect to see something special from John Deere, and Ertl, to help celebrate this historic event. Versatile also displayed their new models and paint schemes at the show. Case IH celebrated their 175th Anniversary with some special displays of vintage tractors and their latest models including updated 4wd tractors with CVT transmissions.
Switching to news about new toys, we have several fun items that are due out soon. In 1/64th scale, we’re now shipping the New Holland T6 tractor with a 7230 discbine. (Stock #13896) Both of these items are new tooling. We’re also starting to ship the 1/32nd New Holland 560 round baler as well. (Stock # 13923)
We’ve also announced that we’re producing a 1/16th scale Allis Chalmers D-17 tractor (Stock # 16333) for the National Farm Toy Museum. (NFTM) Only 2,500 units of this item are being produced. In addition, we’re also producing a 1/64th Farmall 656 Hydro tractor (Stock # 44120) for the NFTM. This model will have the “Gold Demo” paint scheme and will be limited to 5,000 pieces. Both of these items are new tooling and are available through the NFTM and the Ertl Collectors Club website.
Until next time.
